The Promise Keeper – Hebrews 10:23
The Promise Keeper – Hebrews 10:23
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” (Hebrews 10:23 KJV).
God is the only true promise keeper. Man is the promise-breaker. The Bible says: “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man” (Psalm 118:8 KJV).
I am going to believe the God of the Bible versus trusting and believing in man’s doctrine. Man’s doctrine perverts the Word of God: “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9 KJV).
The question is: “Does God really promise eternal life when a person believes in the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ?” Yes! “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began” (Titus 1:2 KJV).
Eternal life is a guaranteed assurance; it is a promise from God Himself. When a person believes in Christ alone for salvation, they can know they have eternal life because they are trusting in God’s faithfulness and not their own. Eternal life is immediately received when a person trusts in Christ alone. When a person believes in Christ alone for salvation, they step from death unto life: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24 KJV).
Religion wants people to “do” or “not do” something for salvation. The Bible says the work for salvation is “done.” “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do” (John 17:3-4 KJV). “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” (John 19:30 KJV). Contrary to religious thought, the work for salvation is DONE!
Religion wants people to “do” or “no do” something for salvation. The Bible says “believe” and “have”: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). Absolute assurance of salvation: believe in Christ alone and have everlasting life!
The Word of Life wants each person to know that once they believe in Christ alone for salvation, eternal life is a present possession that can never and will never be lost. “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out”; “And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day” (John 6:37, 39 KJV). God wants His children to know they are forever secure in His Hands. “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:28-30 KJV). “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand” (Psalm 37:23-24 KJV).
Jesus Christ death payment at the Cross of Calvary paid for all sin: “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it” (Colossians 2:13-15 KJV). Jesus Christ’s resurrection is proof God the Father accepted His Son’s death payment for sin: “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification” (Romans 4:25 KJV).
If Jesus Christ’s death payment at the Cross of Calvary paid for all sin, His resurrection is proof all sin has been paid for fully. What sin is left to be dealt with for rituals, sacraments, traditions of men, or works? There is none because Jesus Christ paid for all sin, and His resurrection is proof, He paid for all sin. Remember, the work for salvation is “DONE!”
If Jesus Christ paid for all sin, why do some religions teach that individuals can “lose their salvation” because of something “did” or “not did” in the future (sin)? Here is the problem with thinking a person can lose salvation: “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God” (Matthew 22:29 KJV). First, they do error not knowing the scriptures; second, they do error, not knowing the power of God.
Jesus Christ paid for all sin at the Cross of Calvary. He paid for past sins, He paid for present sins, and He paid for all future sins and the Cross of Calvary. “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6 KJV). “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12 KJV). “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” (I John 2:2 KJV). They error in not knowing the scriptures because Jesus Christ paid for all sin. If He paid for all sin, what sin is left to be dealt with for rituals, sacraments, traditions, and works? There is none: “IT IS FINISHED!”
When a person believes, they are immediately placed in God’s Hands and sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise. “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:28-30 KJV). “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV). They error not knowing the power of God because it is the Trinity that holds and seals believers in the body of Christ.
Jesus Christ promised eternal life to all those who believe in Him alone for salvation: “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life” (I John 2:25 KJV). They error in not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God because eternal life is promised, it is guaranteed, and believers can have full assurance of salvation according to the Word of God.
All religions preach a person has to do something for salvation: e.g., water baptism (infant or adult), confession, communion, confirmation, be a good person, dedicate your life to Jesus, ask Jesus into your heart, make a promise to God, give money, follow the Ten Commandments, pray to Mary, believe in Allah, etc. A believer understands that all the items previously listed are a false message; however, the point is, if religion(s) say a person must “do” or “not do” something to earn salvation, they are saying Jesus Christ’s death payment for sin, burial, and resurrection is insufficient. The same for a person or religion that preaches a person can “do” or “not do” something in the future to lose their salvation; they are saying Jesus Christ’s death payment for sin, burial, and resurrection is insufficient because it is themselves holding onto their salvation. These individuals are not trusting in Christ alone. “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:22-23 KJV).
Eternal life is not a reward given to those who are faithful or obedient. Eternal life is given as a gift to those who placed their faith in the One who is Faithful and Obedient. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14 KJV). Eternal life is a free gift freely received by faith in Christ alone. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23 KJV). Eternal life is not earned; it is freely received as a gift when a person believes in Christ alone for salvation. As stated in Romans 6:23, salvation cannot be earned, it is a gift, and if it is a gift, how can a person lose something that is not earned. How can salvation be earned when salvation in the Bible says it can’t be earned; it is a gift freely given to those who believe. The gift of eternal life is from God: “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift” (II Corinthians 9:15 KJV). Salvation is not based on merit; however, it is based on God’s grace freely given to those who believe in Christ alone because the work is DONE!
God does not take His gift of eternal life back. “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Romans 11:29 KJV). God promises eternal life to all those who believe in Christ alone for salvation. When a person believes in Christ alone for salvation, they receive eternal life; God will never change His mind and remove the gift of eternal life from any person. Remember, God is the promise keeper, not the promise-breaker. “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” (Hebrews 10:23 KJV).
Religion(s) teach that eternal life is a future possibility presented as a temporary position that can “come and go” as a mere vapor. Eternal life presented as a fleeting possibility is not the eternal life that is presented in the Bible. Eternal life is an absolute assurance immediately received when a person believes in Christ alone for salvation. “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (I John 5:13 KJV). God wants every one of His children to know without a doubt they are eternally secure.
If a person could earn salvation by doing rituals, sacraments, traditions, or works, why did Jesus Christ die on the Cross for all sins, buried, and resurrected? If a person can keep their salvation by being obedient and faithful, why did Jesus Christ die on the Cross for all sins, buried, and resurrected? If a person could lose their salvation by not being obedient or faithful, why did Jesus Christ die on the Cross for all sins, buried, and resurrected? If a person can earn salvation by doing rituals, sacraments, traditions, or works, they are saying the work of Christ is insufficient. If a person thinks they can keep their salvation by being obedient and faithful, they are saying the work of Christ is insufficient. If a person thinks they will lose their salvation by not being obedient or faithful, they are saying the work of Christ is insufficient.
Salvation is in the Finished Redemptive Work of Christ alone. Salvation is not “faith plus works” because “faith plus works” equals “works.” Faith plus works for salvation is “do.” Remember, salvation is “done!” If you have not trusted in Christ alone, what is stopping you for trusting in Jesus Christ as your Savior? Believe Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, burial, and resurrection: trust in His Finished Redemptive Work to save you.
The question is: are you trusting in your imperfect work or the perfect work of Jesus Christ?
The Gospel is called the Good News. If a person could lose your salvation, that would not be called the “good news.” The “Good News” is, the work for salvation is DONE! As our Lord Savior said: “IT IS FINISHED!” That is Good News.
Remember, God is the Promise Keeper. Man is the promise-breaker.
God Promises Forgiveness: “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:7 KJV).
God Promises Salvation: “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” (Acts 16:31 KJV).
God Promises Eternal Life: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18 KJV). “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (John 3:36 KJV). “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24 KJV). “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life” (John 6:47 KJV). “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:28-30 KJV).
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, documented in the scriptures alone, so, God receive the glory alone. “ For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV).
THE PLAN OF SALVATION - THE GOSPEL
The Gospel is Jesus Christ died on the Cross for our sins (past, present, and future), He was buried, and He resurrected the third day to show us the payment for sin is paid in full.
I Corinthians 15:1-4: Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
God loves you. Lord Savior Jesus Christ was revealed in the flesh for one reason, and that is to save us from our sins. Jesus Christ does not come to condemn individuals. Jesus Christ comes to save us because we are all Hell doomed sinners without the Blood of Jesus Christ.
John 3:16-18: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
All individuals are sinners. The payment for sin is death.
Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Christ died for your sin and resurrected for you.
I Corinthians 15:3-4: For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
II Corinthians 5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
If you believe in Christ alone, you receive eternal life.
John 6:47: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
I John 5:13: These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
If you could earn salvation by the following: being baptized (infant or adult), going to communion, going to confession, partaking in confirmation, asking Jesus into your heart, giving money, doing good works, being a good person, follow the Ten Commandments, or any other ritual, sacrament, tradition or work? Why did the Ever Presence Jesus Christ (the God from Eternity Past, the God from Eternity Future) reveal Himself in the flesh and die on the Cross for sin and resurrect the third day?
Galatians 2:21: I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
If you could earn salvation by doing those things mentioned above, then Jesus Christ died in vain. However, Jesus Christ did not die in vain. Jesus Christ made a perfect sacrifice for sin. He is the Lamb of God, and only the Lamb of God can make a perfect sacrifice for sin. There is only one way to Heaven, and it is the belief in the Finished Redemptive Work of Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Philippians 3:9: And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Galatians 2:16: Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Titus 3:5: Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
The resurrection is proof God the Father accepted Jesus Christ’s death payment for sin -death payment of past, present, and future sin.
People DO NOT go to Hell because they are “bad.” People go to Hell because they believe NOT the Gospel of Jesus Christ. People trust NOT in Jesus Christ as their Savior. People believe NOT Jesus Christ died on the Cross for their sins, burial, and resurrection. People do NOT trust alone in the finished redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
II Thessalonians 1:8-9: In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Know that God is gracious to you, and He has already died for all your sins (past, present, and future), He was buried showing all the world He died for your sins, and He resurrected showing all the world that Jesus Christ fulfilled what the Father asked Him to do: IT IS FINISHED!
I pray you to believe in Jesus Christ right now for salvation -believe Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sin, burial, and resurrection. Trust alone in Jesus Christ as your Savior. Remember, that once you are saved, you are forever saved. You can never lose your salvation. It is the Trinity that holds onto you and seals you. You do not hold onto your salvation.
John 10:28-30: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.
Ephesians 1:13-14: In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
If you know someone who is not saved, forward this message to them and share the greatest gift that one could ever receive.

Once Saved, Always Saved - “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:28-30 KJV).
