What is Truth - John 18:37-38
“What is truth:” this question is as old as time. Pilate asked this specific question when TRUTH was standing right before him: “Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all” (John 18:37-38 KJV).
What is truth? 1828 Webster’s Dictionary defines truth: “conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be.” According to Webster’s Dictionary, Truth is the same in the past, truth is the same today and truth is the same tomorrow. 1828 Webster’s Dictionary is saying that truth does NOT change -truth is absolute.
We just read the 1828 Webster’s Dictionary definition of “truth.” However, should we allow a dictionary that was written of men define truth? If we allow men to define “truth,” answers will be heterogeneous which opens up the realm of “interpretation.” Truth should never be an interpretation.
Like Pilate, people have the same question today: “what is the truth?” There are certain individuals who do not like the Biblical definition of truth. Religions will redefine truth to “appease the masses” and be politically correct vs. biblically correct because religion thinks “truth” is relative. Religions will redefine truth as the following: “Jesus is a created being,” “Jesus is a transformed being,” “man must partner with God for salvation,” “man is saved by traditions, sacraments, and rituals.” Some religions say: “you can know the Father without knowing the Son” which is a lie! “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.” (I John 2:22-24 KJV) The truth is “if you deny the Son, you deny the Father” because the two are one.
Even though I like Webster’s Dictionary of “truth,” TRUTH has already been defined for mankind.
Truth:
John 1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:17: For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 4:24: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 5:33: Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
John 8:32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 17:17: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
“Thy word is truth” which is telling all mankind the Bible is truth: all mankind is a sinner; Jesus Christ died for all of man’s sin (past-present-future), buried and resurrected; Jesus Christ offers eternal life to all who believe; and, if a person believes in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, they receive eternal life that can never be lost.
The bible was written that a person might believe the truth: “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name” (John 20:31 KJV). The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He is Truth. We know that truth doesn’t change: it is the same yesterday, same today and same tomorrow. Truth is not relative. Truth is absolute. Truth is extreme and cannot be redefined. There can only be ONE TRUTH! “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” (Acts 16:31 KJV).
If you have not believed, what is stopping you right now from believing? God loves you and has already died and resurrected to meet you. Believe Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, burial, and resurrection and receive the greatest gift ever which is eternal life. Eternal life does not start when you die, eternal life starts the very second you believe in Jesus Christ for salvation. Why not trust in Jesus Christ today for salvation. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:16-18 KJV)
If you know someone who is not saved, forward this message to them and share the greatest gift that one could ever receive.

Once Saved, Always Saved -"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one." (John 10:28-30 KJV)
