Eternal Life & Everlasting Life - John 3:15-16

What is “eternal life?” What is “everlasting life?” “Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life” mean a life without end, a life that never ceases, an endless life, and life immortal that is only in Jesus Christ. “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:15-16 KJV). Jesus promises eternal life and everlasting life to the ones who believe in Him for alone for salvation. Since eternal life and everlasting life is “life without end,” it cannot last 10, 20, or 30 years, and then be lost. If it could be lost, it would not be called “eternal life” and “everlasting life.” Eternal Life and Everlasting Life can never ever be lost or taken away: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39 KJV). “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:28-30 KJV).

“Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life” is controversial and I believe some pastors understand “Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life;” however, they neglect to preach “Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life” because they are fearful of what the “board” and “others” might say. Other people truly believe preaching “Eternal Life” and “Everlasting Life” is a damnable message. People have told me when I preach “Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life,” they say I “cheapen grace,” they say I preach “easy believism.”

If a person agrees that “Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life” “cheapens grace,” or believe it is “easy believism?” I have a couple questions for this person. If a person can’t earn salvation, why does a person think they can keep their salvation or lose their salvation? If a person could lose their salvation, how could a person ever grow in grace? If a person could lose their salvation, when did Jesus Christ reveal Himself in the flesh and go to the Cross of Calvary and die for sin again, and again, and again? If a person could lose salvation, Jesus Christ would have to be crucified again, and again, for only He can make a perfect sacrifice sin. If a person could lose their salvation, how does a person become “unborn?” If a person could lose their salvation, Jesus Christ would have to “pluck this person out of His hand,” the Father would have to “pluck this person out of His hand;” plucking a person “out of His hand” is a promise He would have to break; however, God cannot lie. Jesus Christ promises “no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand” which includes all humanity. “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:28-30 KJV). If a person believes Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, burial, and resurrection, they are in the Father’s hand, they are in Jesus Christ’s hand and He promises “neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” -they are eternally secure. Jesus Christ says: “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day” (John 6:37,39 KJV). If a person could lose their salvation, how could a person get “unsealed” by the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is a seal guaranteeing our inheritance into Heaven. “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV). If a person could lose their salvation, they believe a different record than what God has shared with mankind: these individuals believe the witness of men versus God. “If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (I John 5:9-13 KJV). “This is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son:” awesome!

Man will tell others “you can lose salvation;” however, losing salvation is not scriptural. Jesus Christ offers “Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life” and it is received by faith and faith alone in the Finished Redemptive Work of LORD Savior Jesus Christ. “Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life” doesn’t “cheapen grace,” it emphasizes the value of “grace,” the value in the Finished Redemptive Work of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ said: “IT IS FINISHED” and I believe Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ offers you and I a free gift, the gift of “Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life” which is freely received by grace through faith: faith in the Finished Redemptive Work of Jesus Christ. “Eternal Life” & “Everlasting Life” doesn’t “cheapen grace” for Jesus Christ gave ALL so ALL could be saved. Preaching or teaching one can lose salvation “cheapens grace” for this person is saying “Jesus Christ didn’t do enough.”

If you have not believed, what is stopping you right now from believing? God loves you and has already died and resurrected to meet you. Believe Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, burial, and resurrection and receive the greatest gift ever which is eternal life. Eternal life does not start when you die, eternal life starts the very second you believe in Jesus Christ for salvation. Why not trust in Jesus Christ today for salvation. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:16-18 KJV)

If you know someone who is not saved, forward this message to them and share the greatest gift that one could ever receive.
